Kate has been at North Worcestershire Equestrian Centre much longer than she cares to admit, having received riding lessons at the centre for her sixth birthday and never quite managing to escape since!
As a progression from learning to ride at NWEC she began to work one day a week on the yard, taking out hacks as a teenager. At this time she also began to compete on Clifton Nicklaus, one of the centre's riding school horses.
Having continued her training at NWEC Kate is currently qualified to BHSAI and teaches the adult lessons on most Sunday mornings as well as overseeing and regularly reviewing the lead-rein lessons running alongside.
Kate has competed in a variety of disciplines, including dressage, show jumping, one day events, county level showing and intermediate level endurance. She continues to compete on Nicklaus, mainly concentrating on veteran showing classes, in which they have achieved much success. She also now owns and competes on Chevin Aramis – another haflinger gelding.
Kate has fulfilled her professional aim for the time being, as she is kept busy with her full-time job at the OU, but is giving consideration to pursuing her intermediate instructor’s certificate in the future. She is also aiming to compete Aramis at affiliated dressage and keep Nicklaus veteran showing as long as he keeps his little legs moving! |
